SANTA'S HELPERS
Danny's Shoes Foundation receives children's Santa Claus letters every year, through the special organizations, churches, and families we have made friends with throughout our 14 years as a foundation. Dannys Shoes then helps Santa Claus and his elves deliver presents requested on their Santa Claus letters. These organizations include, G.L.A.S.S., Five Acres Orphanage, Saint Anne's Catholic Church, and many others.
What Do We Provide & Who Do We Help?
Dannys Shoes has helped and continues to help and work with many different local programs. Below you can read about the many children we are able to provide presents from the one and only Santa Claus during the Christmas season, as well as help provide any necessary items needed throughout the year.
Catholic Charities of Los Angeles: Guadalupe Community Services Center (Canoga Park, CA) operates 22 community centers and seven homeless shelters, as well as over 50 programs serving the poor including: food pantries; thrift stores; in-home services for homebound seniors; refugee resettlement; youth employment services; counseling; affordable before-and-after-school child care; immigration assistance; pre-school for children of low income families; and temporary worker centers.
Optimist Youth Homes & Family Services (Pasadena,CA) provides culturally sensitive, comprehensive treatment,
specialized education and support services to abused, neglected or at-risk children, youth and their
families, to establish stability within families and communities.

Hillsides (Pasadena, CA) is a premier provider dedicated to improving the overall well-being and functioning of vulnerable children, youth, and their families. Their vision is to create lasting change in the lives of all at-risk children and youth we serve. Hillsides provides high quality care, advocacy, and innovative services that promote safe, permanent environments where young people can thrive.
Domestic Violence Center (Newhall, CA) provides safety and support to victims of domestic violence while working to break the cycle of abuse. We primarily offer shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and activities to support increased economic opportunities for victims. These victims sometimes come along with their children and limited amounts of personal belongings.
Five Acres Orphanage (Altadena,CA) is proud of its 125-year history of service to vulnerable children and their families. "We work to prevent child abuse and neglect, care for, treat and educate emotionally fragile, abused and neglected children and their families in residential and outreach programs, advance the welfare of children and families by research, evidence-based treatment, advocacy and collaboration". Five Acres provides children throughout Los Angeles County to get them ready to enter into foster care, an adoption process, or to be reunited with their families.
We have felt compelled over the years to adopt Five Acres as our main focus from 2007-2014. Many of these children live on-site. Each year, Dannys Shoes recieves the children's Christmas wishlist for Santa Claus. There is a large variety of wishes. From ipods to bicycles, Brats dolls to guitars, even shoes. Dannys's Shoes provides a gift-giving show complete with Santa and Elves. We strive to provide all of the children with all of their wishes written to Santa Claus. Dannys Shoes Foundation is honored to help Five Acres and its good works.

G.L.A.S.S. (West LA, CA) is a 14 year-old private non-profit 501(c) (3) multi-service agency that specializes in assisting, protecting and safeguarding children/youth who are seriously under served. This includes minority, GLBTQ, HIV infected/impacted and behaviorally disordered children/youth ages 10 to 18.
Our Lady of Lourdes (Northridge,CA)
Saint Anne's Catholic Church & Shrine (Santa Monica, CA) This parish is a bit close to our hearts. Danny's Shoes founders as well as Danny Macias (the Danny in Danny's Shoes) all attended St. Anne's Catholic Church for over 50 years. St Anne's Catholic Church is where all 8 children of Danny and his wife Ruth Macias, went to school from kindergarten to 8th grade. This church was also the inception of a family to be rooted in Christian beliefs, caring for and helping others.
We have been able to provide St. Anne's Catholic Church and Our Lady of Lourdes needy parishioners with Christmas Trees, food for their special Holiday meal, and presents for all of the children. Delivering these special items to these families personally brings joy to our hearts.

U.S. Post Office Van Nuys Main Office provides lists of children who are in the foster care system. Along with their names and ages, we are provided with their gift wishlist addressed to Santa Claus.
